In the video above (watch it, if you haven’t already), you’re going to learn how to set up your IFTTT account, and connect your services like Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and blogs in just two simple steps. You’re also going to learn how to connect Pinterest to Twitter and how to create triggers and actions using IFTTT.
What exactly is IFTTT?
IFTTT stands for “If This Then That,” which means that when you do something on one platform, it automatically triggers an action on another platform. For example, if you post a new photo on Instagram, it can be automatically posted on your Facebook page as well.
Things You Should Know About IFTTT
Applets: Applets are pre-built IFTTT workflows that are designed to help you accomplish specific tasks. They are built by developers and are available for anyone to use. To find Applets, go to the IFTTT website or mobile app and browse the available categories.
Custom Applets: If you can’t find an Applet that meets your needs, you can create your own custom Applet. This requires a bit more work than using a pre-built Applet, but it can be very powerful.
Filters: Filters are a way to refine the triggers that cause an action to happen. For example, you can create a filter to only post a tweet when a new pin is added to a specific board on Pinterest.
Multi-step Applets: Multi-step Applets allow you to string together multiple actions in a single workflow. For example, you could create an Applet that emails you when a new blog post is published, and also posts a link to that blog post on Twitter.
Services: IFTTT supports a wide range of services, from social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, to smart home devices like Nest and Philips Hue. Make sure to explore all the available services to see what you can automate.
Platform-specific features: Some platforms, like Gmail and Dropbox, have additional features available in IFTTT beyond the basic trigger-action workflow. These features can add even more automation possibilities.
IFTTT for Business: IFTTT also offers a business version of their platform that allows you to create custom workflows for your organization. This can be a great way to automate repetitive tasks and streamline your business processes.
Overall, IFTTT is a versatile tool that can be used to automate a wide range of tasks. By exploring the available services, creating custom Applets, and using filters and multistep workflows, you can create powerful automations that save you time and make your life easier.
Set Up Your IFTTT Account In Two Quick Steps:
Step 1: Connect the Services
First, you need to connect the services that you want to use. You can do this by logging into your account and selecting the services tab. Then, choose the platform you want to connect, like Pinterest, and click on the “connect” button. Follow the prompts to allow IFTTT access to your Pinterest account.
Repeat this process for other platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and blogs until you have connected all the platforms that you want to use.
Step 2: Create Recipes
After you have connected the services, you can create recipes that will trigger specific actions. For instance, if you want to post all your new Pinterest pins to your Twitter account, you can set up a recipe that does this automatically.
To create a recipe, select the “create” button on the IFTTT dashboard. Then, select the “if this” button and choose Pinterest from the list of platforms. Next, choose the trigger for your recipe. For instance, you can choose “new pin on your board” to trigger your recipe when a new pin is added to your board.
Once you have set up the trigger, you can choose the “then that” button and select Twitter as the platform you want to post to. You can choose the action you want to perform on Twitter, such as posting a tweet with an image.
Watch the video and as soon as you’re done, you should be able to easily set up your IFTTT account, connect your social media platforms, and create recipes that will automatically post your content to multiple platforms.
